Romney and Ron: Rap Stars on the Rise

By Ashley Withers, Guest Blogger

Popular rap songs became political fodder recently as Ron Paul and Mitt Romney took center stage.

Ron Paul- “All I Do Is Win”

This video, made by a major Ron Paul supporter, went viral this past weekend. It depicts Paul in a backwards baseball cap telling the American public, “I always win.” Using clips from news shows and conservative rallies throughout, this is definitely not the song DJ Khaled, the song’s original rapper, envisioned. The songs message seems a bit off, particularly since this isn’t Paul’s first presidential run, but If nothing else, at least the video proves that Ron Paul looks pretty damn cute in a backwards baseball cap.

Mitt Romney- LMFAO’s “We Came Here to Party”

News was released this week that one of LMFAO’s party songs is actually inspired by a 2010 encounter with Mitt Romney.LMFAO band member RedFoo said that the song “We Came Here to Party” came about after his bandmate Sky Blu reclined his chair too far into Romney’s space on a Jet Blue flight. In an interview with the Washington Post, RedFoo said: “[After the incident] both parties were fighting. Mitt Romney’s fans were attacking the LMFAO fans and the LMFAO fans were going back and forth. We’re basically saying, everyone’s a human and we all can get along, and how you do that is at the party, you know?”

It’s like, Mitt Romney, why can’t you just get along at the party?
